About the event
The season begins with an eclectic evening of high-spirited gems, traveling from the south of France with a slight detour to the Ottoman Empire before ending up in the American West. Bizet’s delightful depictions of French children’s games is followed by the inspired and captivating Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5 (“The Turkish”) performed by our phenomenal concertmaster, Terrie Baune. Then get ready to put on your spurs for the final work of the evening, Copland’s ingenious, nostalgic and humorous musical interpretation of cowboy life in the early 20th century.
